Healing Happens On Many Levels – Not Just In Individual Or Group Counseling

At DARA Thailand, we want those who come to stay with us to get the help they need to recover from addiction and self-destructive behaviors. We also want our clients to enjoy their stay and have a relaxing and rejuvenating experience because we believe healing happens on many levels – not just in group or individual counseling.

Addiction takes a toll on the mind, body, and spirit. It is a destructive force that causes someone to feel hopeless and helpless. Someone who comes to us for treatment usually comes with a heavy heart, weighed down by guilt and shame. They feel physically, emotionally, and spiritually broken and they fear they will never get better. We are sensitive to our clients’ needs and we have a sincere desire to provide immediate relief – which doesn’t necessarily happen through talking or listening. But, it always happens with physical touch.

At DARA Thailand, We Incorporate Thai Massage Into Your Recovery Program

Unlike most conventional rehabs, we believe in the healing power of Thai massage and we incorporate this element into every client’s treatment plan. Most rehabilitation facilities do not recognize massage as a necessary component of the recovery process. We believe that is a mistake. By offering the healing power of human touch through Thai massage, DARA Thailand has set the highest standard for addiction rehabilitation.

What Is Thai Massage?

Thai massage, also known to many as “Thai yoga massage” is an ancient healing practice that combines acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. With a traditional Thai massage, no oils or lotions are used. Instead, the person who is receiving a massage remains fully clothed during a treatment, wearing loose-fitting and comfortable clothes.

During a Thai massage, the muscles are not rubbed or massaged as you might expect with a typical massage. Instead, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched, and rocked. This is very relaxing and releases the body of tension and stress.

How Massage Can Benefit Someone In Recovery

Thai massage aids the recovery process in a number of significant ways:

  • Massage stimulates the release of feel-good chemicals in the brain such as dopamine and serotonin. When most people enter recovery – especially from drug and alcohol addiction – the brain is depleted of these chemicals. In this way, Thai massage helps restore the brain to a healthy chemical balance.
  • Massage also decreases the release cortisol, which is a hormone produced by stress.
  • A Thai massage can also help relieve feelings of worry, anxiety, agitation, hostility, and depression, which typically accompany the withdrawal from drugs or alcohol.
  • The therapeutic practice of Thai massage also aids with healthy sleep, which is an important component of recovery.
  • Thai massage reduces pain and increases flexibility.
  • Massage also boosts energy and promotes a feeling of health and wellness.

There are a number of other benefits to Thai style massage – we have only listed a few. If you choose to come to DARA Thailand to recover from an addiction or self-destructive behavior, your Thai massage awaits you!
