Our Therapeutic Approach for Drug and Alcohol Treatment

The basis of our therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy—one of the best evidence-based therapy approaches for treating addictions. We also incorporate physiotherapy modalities, including massage and fun exercise. Additionally, we will teach you to balance mind and body with relaxation techniques, such as meditation and regulation of breath. We also offer a worldwide intervention service. Our holistic treatment of mind, body, and spirit is second to none. Here, we focus on the individual, not the addiction, using cognitive behavioral therapy as our primary therapy modality. Apart from alcohol and drug detox and treatment, we offer a complete experience of whole-person renewal through a program of many different activities. Our program includes meditation, relaxation through breathing exercises, massage, art therapy, personal fitness training, group sports, and fun and exciting group excursions.

Components of Our Drug and Alcohol Abuse and Addiction Treatment Program

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT has a strong level of empirical support for the treatment of substance abuse and alcoholism. CBT is a short-term, focused approach to help substance dependent individuals become abstinent from alcohol and other substances. CBT focuses on helping clients to a) RECOGNIZE the situations in which they are most likely to use drugs or alcohol; b) AVOID these situations when appropriate; and c) COPE more effectively with a range of problems and problematic behaviors associated with substance abuse. Relapse Awareness: Learning the knowledge and skills to identify the warning signs and signals that may lead to a relapse, and how to deal with them (group and individual sessions)
Group Education: Topics include, for example: Stress Management; Diet—How Specific Foods are Beneficial in Recovery; The Effects of Alcohol on our Physical, Social and Mental Health; and Healthy Lifestyle – Healthy Mind
Art Therapy: A creative activity and process that facilitates insight and resolution of personal issues, reduces stress, increases self-esteem and self-expression, and promotes self-awareness. (group sessions)

Your Trip to Thailand / Coming to DARA – Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia

Coming to Thailand may seem like a radical way to deal with your problem. However, it’s not. It’s a journey well worth taking as part of your overall journey of recovery. There are many reasons to choose to come to Thailand and to DARA – Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia for your recovery program as indicated above. Also, getting outside of your environment—away from triggers—is an important strategy and step towards rehabilitation and recovery. A ‘trigger’ is something you associate with using alcohol or other drugs, such as: people, places, and things; a certain time of the day; and emotional states. DARA – Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia offers you a luxury residential alcoholism rehab to get away to—in order to work a recovery program—while at the same time getting you away from your triggers.

If you choose to come to DARA – Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia, getting to Bangkok isn’t difficult. Many international flights arrive daily at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. You’ll also need to make a connecting flight from Bangkok to Trat via Bangkok Airways. Trat is located southeast of Bangkok along the eastern seaboard. Upon arrival in Trat, Drug & Alcohol Rehab Asia clients are initially transported to our partnering hospital Bangkok Hospital-Trat—a JCI-accredited private hospital— for a medical check-up and overnight stay. You will be evaluated by specialists at the hospital to determine if detox is needed (and if you need a longer stay than 24 hours). Some persons detoxing may only need medication on an outpatient basis. When you are ready to leave the hospital, you will be taken by private car to our drug and alcohol rehab center’s beautiful island location.

Upon arrival at DARA – Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia, you will be welcomed by members of our staff, and will be oriented to some logistics regarding our program and your new surroundings. You can then spend the rest of the day and evening settling into your private villa and relaxing in our luxurious, stunning surroundings. You’ll be ready to join our other clients in the recovery program the following day: Holistic rehabilitation utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy supplemented with other activities—e.g. stress management and exercise—for a healthy mind and body.

Returning Home

After completing your program, a member of our staff will accompany you on your trip back to the Trat airport. We will also help you make any necessary flight arrangements if needed. Once you return home, you will start your aftercare, which will be set up before leaving DARA – Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia. When you return home, you will be ready to begin your aftercare program.
