Drug and Alcohol Rehab Western Australia
Drug and Alcohol Rehab Western Australia / Teen Rehab Western Australia
Abuse of alcohol is also a major and rising problem in Australia WA:
The use of illicit drugs can often occur with the abuse of alcohol. Western Australia’s illicit drug use is slightly higher than the national average. According to the 2007 National Drug Strategy Household Survey, a little more than 16% (about 1 out of 6 people) reported recently using any illicit drug. When not used for medical purposes, the following drugs are considered illicit: pain-killers/analgesics, tranquilisers/sleeping pills, steroids, barbiturates, meth/amphetamine, and other opiates/opioids. Also included in illicit drugs are: cocaine, hallucinogens, ecstasy, ketamine, GHB, methadone or buprenorphine, marijuana, inhalants, and heroin. Illicit drug use was highest among the age group of 20-29 year olds. After alcohol use, the four most frequently used drugs were, across all age groups (14 years old and above): marijuana, then meth / amphetamine, followed closely by ecstasy, and then pain-killers/analgesics. Use of all of these drugs was higher in WA compared to the national percentages (except for pain-killers/analgesics, which was the same).
