Many also follow the 12-Step model, an older treatment model that has been predominant in many countries—although this is beginning to change as more and more research is being done on the efficacy of non 12-step programs, e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based programs, vs. 12-step programs.
We provide a non-12 Step program with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as our primary treatment modality. A 2009 meta-analysis study, published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs, analyzed 53 controlled trials of cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for adults diagnosed with alcohol- or illicit-drug-use disorders investigating the efficacy of CBT for recovery. The study’s findings “demonstrate the utility of CBT across a large and diverse sample of studies and under rigorous conditions for establishing efficacy.
In addition to CBT individual and group counseling, our program incorporates personal physical training, water workout in our beautiful pool, group education sessions, art therapy, stress management, meditation, relapse prevention, island excursions (as well as other social activities), detox (when needed), and aftercare planning.
