Drug or alcohol rehabilitation works at DARA by taking you away from your daily triggers and stresses that lead to your drug or alcohol use in the first place. Once you are in a safe environment away from drugs or alcohol, you can concentrate on starting the process of living a life free of substance abuse, willingly.
You can do it; we know you can, and would be honored to lead you along the path to a happy, fulfilled life, without the need to use drugs or alcohol. It can be done. We know hundreds of people who graduated the DARA program and are doing it now as you read this.
DARA offers an intensive, effective, program that will be tailored to your needs to give you the best possible opportunity of sobriety. With a concentration on dealing with the underlying issues of why you use drugs or alcohol in the first place, and a commitment from us to teach you better coping skills, and a full set of effective tools to utilize them, you can walk a path of sobriety.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – CBT
You will have a busy schedule of individual and group weekly therapy sessions, including one-to-one therapy and relapse prevention sessions. There are CBT Groups every morning, as well as a variety of afternoon group sessions daily.
CBT helps you change the way you think about yourself, the world, and other people. It also helps you to understand how your actions affect your thoughts and feelings and, therefore, how your thoughts and your feelings affect your actions.
CBT will help you change how you think (cognitive) and change what you do (behavioral). It will focus on the here and now in order to help you make the changes you want, NOW.
How CBT Works
CBT can help you make sense of what may seem overwhelming by breaking it down into smaller parts. This makes it easier to see how things are connected and how they affect you. How you think about a problem can affect you both physically and emotionally. But, most importantly, it can affect what you do about it.
You have two 1-hour fitness sessions weekly, plus water workout daily M-F and two group exercise sessions (e.g., flexibility and water sports). You can also use the gym, the swimming pool and any of the games or sports and leisure equipment in your free time. You also get three massage sessions weekly.
While meditation is widely used in the medical and health fields for stress management, it has also been used as a spiritual practice for thousands of years, helping practitioners gain insight and awareness about the nature of mind and body.
Every Sunday you will be taken on an escorted day trip to sample the delights of this wonderful country, and take some ‘holiday’ photos! You can try a day on the beach, Thai cooking school, island hopping, snorkeling, fishing, jungle trekking, canoeing, and kayaking. You can also watch movies during the evenings on our large screen home theater. You will also have internet access and a book and DVD library to use. In all, your time with us will be a real opportunity to make the changes you want, and you will return home fit, relaxed and ready to succeed.
Free Time in Rehab
Although the course is intensive, there is enough free time to allow you to complete homework, reflect and relax. You are free to enjoy all the amenities of the center or just relax on the veranda of your villa.

After completing your residential rehab program, you will need to continue with treatment in an aftercare program. Aftercare programs continue to support you with treatment in those early, crucial days of recovery when you get back to your home environment. While Drug and Alcohol Rehab Asia’s residential rehab will provide you will the tools you will need to be on your road to recovery (assuming you work the program while you’re in rehab), it should be supplemented with aftercare once you leave our rehab center.
